Difference between Condenser and Dynamic Microphones

April 9, 2018 By Alberto Leave a Comment

The dynamic and condenser microphones are considered as two basic types of the microphone which are categorised under the directional characteristics of the microphones.

Even though there are many arguments happen to know the clear view about microphones, as a conclusion of all that argument in this article we list out the same common difference between condenser and dynamic microphones.

  • The condenser mic’s feed more easily than the dynamic microphones,
  • The dynamic mic’s change the sound independence of the load,
  • The dynamic mics are more robust than condenser mics,
  • The condenser mics are louder than the dynamic mic’s,
  • The dynamic mics can handle higher sound pressure levels than the condenser mics,

Difference Between Condenser and Dynamic Microphones:-

Difference between condenser and dynamic microphonesThe condenser mic’s feed more easily than the dynamic microphones:

One basic mistake done while choosing the condenser mic’s is that it is developed for recording at a long distance and when the sound was amplified it may result in low frequency to feed. As an alternative to that, you can use a low-cut or high-pass or pick a mic’s which is specially designed for that stage use.

The dynamic mic’s change the sound independence of the load:

The passive dynamic mics are found in very low impedance which is because of the physics of moving coil. A heavy load on kid’s acts more or less than a short circuit and reduces the low-frequency output of the mic’s.

Eventually, the high frequencies may also be reduced, which is normally only a problem with a very poor mixer design. Whatever it is, making passive splits with one microphone to 2 or more inputs which may result in the same problem.

The dynamic mics are more robust than condenser mics:

Most of the mics have a delicate design which is intended for use in studios, and this goes for both dynamic mics and condenser mics. Sometimes some of these sensitive mic’s will hit the road with the musicians.

The mics may use for the instance apply to the microphones which equipped with tubes and some other delicate internal components.

This is not the case with high-quality solid-state condenser microphones that can manage the rough handling as well as any robust dynamic microphones. The lightweight remembrance of the condenser mic’s later survives for massive beats and it drops the best result than the dynamic moving coil mic’s.

The dynamic mics are louder than the condenser mics:

The condenser mics have a higher sensitivity of sounds than the dynamic microphones. The sensitivity should always be being chosen relative to the needs of the job. On the other hand, if the mics have to handle very high sound pressure levels and it is best to select a unit with a low sensitivity level.

The dynamic mics can handle lower sound pressure levels than the condenser mics:

The condenser mics can able to manage higher pressure levels than the condenser mics.

Final Words

I hope this article helped you in understanding the difference between condenser and dynamic microphones. If so, please do not forget to share this article and educate some newbie who considers them both as same.
