How to Clean Aviation Headset Plugs?

Aviation headsets are widely used in the field of aircraft to reduce the noise that arises while flight will rise in the air. People who are travelling on planes on a regular basis will tend to use the aviation headsets frequently. So that after some interval of use it gets dirty.

In that situation, we need to clean the aviation headset plugs, but most of the people do not know how to clean the same. Hence doing it in a wrong manner can tend to damage the sensitive parts of the headset.

To help such kind of people this article explains the steps to clean the aviation headset plugs. You cannot clean these headsets like cleaning the standard headsets. There are some things needed to clean the aviation headset listed as follows,

  • Cue tip
  • Knife or any other cutters
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Headset device connected to the plug

First turn the device off before you go for cleaning it so that you can avoid any accidents and damages to happen on your device.

Step 1:

In the first step, you need to cut the cue tip with the help of the knife or any other cutter which you use to cut to the desired thickness. But you need to make sure that the cue tip can fit in the headset.

Step 2:

In the second step, you need to dip the cue tip into one cap which is full of rubbing alcohol. Be sure that the cue tip is soaked but not enough to drip all over the place.

Step 3:

Now with the device turned off, stick the cue tip into the headphone plug and twist it around to rub all sides of the jack plug. After finishing all steps, allow the device to dry. Now your aviation headset device is ready to use again without any dirtiness.

Other than cleaning the aviation headsets proper maintenance is also needed to get perfect sound output. To maintain the headphones properly, you need to keep each small parts of a headset with more care.

For example, the microphone cover is one of the essential parts which frequently get ratty. To maintain it correctly you want to lose the functionality pretty quickly. Other than this there are some other things to sustain the headphones, to do it without any mistakes try to follow the below instructions,

Give attention to the hole is about the size of a pencil and your microphone may come out from the same size or little bit larger than that. The sides of the hole should be pinched and gently set it on the mic. Go ahead to pinch and slowly cover the microphone with a muff.

Try to test that the element is at the end of the micro-phone by touching the tip of the microphone. After that try to be sure to keep both sides of the headphones are in the same axes and firm at the endpoint. Now your headphone is ready to use, enjoy yourself with good music.
